We’re preparing to flex our muscles here at Storm Communications, with our latest client, Surge, about to launch their first EMS (Electric Muscle Stimulation) studio in central London. EMS is a total body workout using body current. Our muscles contract through electric impulses (bioelectronics) in a normal state, and EMS training makes use of this effect to work muscles harder in specific areas, activating over 90% of muscle fibres during a 20-minute work-out. This efficiency makes it an ideal supplementary workout for both gym-goers and professional athletes alike. The expert Surge team will be bringing a professional, confident approach to training micro-classes of up to four people in their state-of-the-art London studio.
Storm Communications will be running a consumer PR campaign with experiential activity to drive trial of this exciting new fitness concept, alongside content creation and social media management.
For more information contact Elinor Tyler, Head of Consumer Public Relations on 0207 240 2444 or Elinor.Tyler@stormcom.co.uk.
This October the Helitech International team at Storm Communications will be mingling with the elite of the rotorcraft industry as they finalise the year’s campaign efforts by heading up the show press office in Amsterdam.
With a new event seminar programme in place and plenty of high profile speakers from the likes of Airbus, Leonardo and even an Aerobatic Pilot from The Flying Bulls, it’s been a great show to get stuck into. This is the first year Storm Communications has been heading up the account and the team has been working to raise awareness and position it as a must attend event for the international rotorcraft by generating coverage across international and trade business publications, while ramping up engagement across all social media channels.
From content curation through to running exhibitor webinars and building new media relations, this has been an all-encompassing campaign and we’re excited to see the final results in Amsterdam, October 11-13.

Following a hugely successful campaign for last year’s event, Storm Communications has been reappointed by the Security & Counter Terror Expo to run their UK event PR. Starting in October, we will once again be running a proactive media relations programme to raise awareness of the event’s speakers and exhibitors in key vertical sectors, including the military, security, counter terrorism, critical infrastructure, cyber security and emergency services. Additionally, the 2017 event will see us managing digital activity around the show, connecting with key audiences via Twitter and LinkedIn channels, and creating targeted advertising.
Last year, we achieved a record amount of media coverage for the event, including high profile speaker pieces in a number of broadsheet national papers, as well as being broadcast on BBC News, Sky News and NBC News. All key media titles wrote extensively about the event in the lead up to the London show, which resulted in visitor numbers exceeding all expectations.
SCTX is one of many UK event PR accounts run by Storm. This year alone we have already managed press office activity for the portfolio of in-cosmetics Group events, including the newly launched North America show, Helitech International, World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo, Foodex, Food & Drink Expo and Trauma Innovation.

Imogen Stuckes is currently working with Storm’s consumer PR team as part of a three-month paid internship. Here’s what she has to say about life at a London communications agency so far:
When I completed work experience at a PR agency last summer, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in communications, and having secured a 2:1 in my English Literature with Classics degree I embarked upon an internship at Storm.
So what’s it REALLY like being an intern at a London communications agency? Before I arrived I assumed I would mainly be observing, photocopying, making tea… how wrong I was! (Although everyone at Storm loves their hot beverages, it’s not a pre-requisite that I make them for everyone). I was thrown into the world of PR, being given responsibility from the start with my very own specific consumer clients to work on. I began by cutting coverage and doing send outs, which allowed me to get to know the brands and understand the consumer audience more. Two months in, and I’m now trusted with doing sell-ins, research and even writing social content!
One of the best things about PR is seeing the coverage you worked for appear in print or online. It’s a great feeling to see a glowing review about a product you’re representing, not to mention knowing that you’ve achieved a result for your client.
Working in communications is the perfect job for an arts graduate: I get to use my creativity during brainstorms, and dust off my writing skills when creating competition copy or social content! There’s never a chance to be bored, as the work is so varied, and I’m working on a different brand every day ranging from food to property to hotels.
I’m also lucky enough to have a wonderful, friendly and sociable office, who make coming into work every day that little bit easier. Being in the heart of London is great, too: if the sun actually comes out we can sit by the Tate and have lunch. A highlight of the week has to be when we are visited by the resident Storm dog, Louis, the cutest and most important member of the team!
Above everything, being an intern at Storm has really confirmed my wish to continuing working in public relations and I can’t thank the agency enough for letting me experience every part of the world of PR. I’m now one step closer to becoming a character in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and therefore achieving my career goals…
It’s been an exciting time for the in-cosmetics team here at Storm. As we reach the final countdown to the first ever North America show launching in New York this September 6-7, the team has been busy generating a buzz in the international trade media and across social channels.
The team already manages the international cycle of shows including Paris, Asia, Korea and London, and this year we were delighted to be appointed to handle the launch of the North American show, extending our brief across entire the global portfolio.

The Bio Collectors team here at Storm has been celebrating success after releasing the company’s Tackling London’s Food Waste report. Researched, written, designed and issued by Storm, the report also launched the Just AD Food campaign to encourage consumers and businesses alike to do something about the 900,000 tonnes of food we Londoners are wasting annually. We had great media pick up in all the key waste and recycling titles including CIWM and edie.net, with further interest from regional media and plenty of social media engagement.
With more and more people opting for a low-sugar or sugar-free lifestyle, we are delighted to announce one of our newest clients, SugaVida, which is the UK’s only supplier of organic Palmyra Jaggery (a crystallised, unrefined nectar alternative to sugar).
The ultimate nutritious ‘super-sugar’, SugaVida has a low GI making it safe for diabetics, and is rich in vitamins and minerals including B1, B2, B6 and B12, so is ideal as part of a healthy diet.
One teaspoon of SugaVida – meaning ‘sugar of life’ – contains 36% of the RDA of vitamin B12, 210% of the RDA of vitamin B6 and a whopping 500% of vitamin B1. Highly versatile, it can be added to tea, coffee, smoothies, protein shakes and water as a superfood supplement, as well as used as an ingredient in baking and cooking, using the equivalent of 50% less sugar. It’s regularly endorsed by top nutritionists, dieticians and Michelin star chefs across the UK and Europe.
As the product goes through a packaging relaunch, Storm will be in charge of raising brand awareness in mainstream consumer and trade media to encourage sales and new listings, as well as communicating the incredible benefits of SugaVida.

It’s been a fantastic week for the Benenden team here at Storm with the release of the brand’s annual National Health Report. The concept, designed, written and issued by Storm for the past three years has gone from strength to strength. This year, report findings have been published across the national UK media, from The Daily Telegraph to the Daily Mail, on the radio, and even a slot on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show, as well as securing a further 68 pieces of coverage. The report’s headline finding this year was that almost half of young people in the UK have admitted to skipping meals to save calories for drinking later, a destructive trend known as drunkorexia.
It’s the perfect summer seasoning as A.Vogel’s food brands join Storm Communications. We have just been appointed as A.Vogel’s PR agency to help boost the profile of its food brands, including Herbamare and bioSnacky, in the U.K.
bioSnacky is a sprout-growing system comprised of germinators and a variety of health-boosting seeds. Herbamare is a seasoning salt combined with 12 different, fresh, organically-grown herbs.
We’ve been brought in to help increase awareness of the brand in the UK. Our main focus is on the consumer press, but we’ll also be running an Instagram channel for the brand.
